JULY 11-16 2027
Looking for a sleepaway summer camp for your 10-17 year-old mountain biker? SoCal MTB Camp delivers a week of unforgettable adventure in beautiful Big Bear Lake, CA. We've built our program around the spirit of the best old-school summer camps: a week of adventure, friendship, and fun — with mountain biking at the heart of it all.
Campers are guided by a team of experienced, highly trained coaches through a jam-packed lineup of activities: kayaking, bowling, swimming, ropes courses, wacky games, alpine slides, ice cream runs, and laps at the Snow Summit Bike Park. It's everything a great summer camp should be, built for kids who love to ride.

You may bring only ONE bike to camp. Downhill bikes are not permitted at camp. We recommend that your bike be a mid-travel full-suspension bike. The bike you choose to bring should be one you would feel comfortable riding all day across varied terrain. Many riders opt for an enduro bike these days. There are no exceptions. ONE BIKE!

Short answer: YES. Camp should be thought of as an opportunity to meet other student-athletes and make new friends. That being said, we understand that some campers really want to stay together. While we can't place you on the same riding team upon request, we can make arrangements for campers who want to stay together. Please contact brandon@socalyouthcycling.org AFTER finishing registration to make a request.

Typically, campers start the week eager to ride! ride! ride! By the end of the week, however, we can tell you that most campers don't even make it to breakfast on time. Expect to do a lot of riding, and expect that time on the bike will ramp up as the week progresses. We can't give you an exact mileage number because it varies by group at camp. Coaches often move riders around at camp based on whether they are getting too much or too little.

Yes in fact these items are required in order to ride at the bike park. Please make sure to review the camper equipment document during registration.

All campers stay in the main lodge, and the rooms are bunkhouse-style. The number of individual beds in each room ranges from 4-12. Boys and girls are kept separate, with a few female coaches staying in each girls' room. Boys' floors have coach-only bunk rooms placed at either end. Girls are not allowed in boys' rooms, and boys are not allowed in girls' rooms, at any time during camp.

The main lodge has two floors. Each floor has two community bathrooms with private showers and stalls. The upstairs is reserved for boys only, while the downstairs has separate boys' and girls' bathrooms. Coaches have their own independent men's and women's facilities in a separate building adjacent to the main lodge.

Unfortunately no. To be on a ride at camp, an adult must be a Camp Coach. All adults present at camp are vetted extensively prior to camp and must undergo specific camp-related training and orientation in order to participate in rides and other camp activities. This is done for the safety of all youth and adults present at camp.

Our camp facility is large. We run two camps simultaneously. Ages 10 & 11 are grouped into one camp and divided into sub groups based on skills and fitness. Ages 12-17 are grouped in to the other camp and divided into subgroups based upon skills and fitness. There are separate faculties on the property for each camp and there are separate teams of coaches running each camp. Check-in and check-out are the only comingled activities for the two camps.
